Client Case Study Christy Tennery-Spalding - When I Grow Up

Client Case Study Christy Tennery-Spalding - When I Grow Up Um, do you know that Ive coached hundreds of women since I started offering dream career guidance in 2008? And that these women are freakin rock stars, leaving soul-sucking jobs and traveling the world and launching creative, grown-up businesses and simply doing work that fits their lifestyle goals? Well ya do now and youll hear their stories firsthand in my  Client Case Studies series!  I just wrapped up 12 session with Christy Tennery-Spalding (or Christy Tending, for short!) in February, and had to get her on the series ASAP. In the 4 months we worked together, she quit her job and re-worked the Who (its for), What (shes offering) and How (it fits into her life) of her Healing Arts business. I LOVE her authentic, heart-based work and cant wait for you to learn more about her journey below! Why did you decide to work with a creative career coach? I was what I now refer to as the dark place when I decided to work with Michelle. I was working a job I didn’t love and had a business that had felt stagnant for a while. I felt like I was stuck on the wrong side of a wall â€" and needed a boost to get over it. But that’s not really the whole story, because I didn’t just want to work with just any creative career coach. I wanted to work with a mentor who had a business I admired, who was in total integrity in her own career and who had been in the dark place herself. I was so bummed out in my job that I really wanted to work with someone who just personified joy. And, obviously, that’s Michelle. What were you doing work-wise when we started our sessions? I was in the midst of transitioning out of my old job, and into my business full-time. I was picking up contract work here and there, but my main focus was on building the pieces of my business that had been living in my brain for so long. I was doing a lot of planning and not a lot of doing. I had a business that I was hustling at, but wasn’t serving me in return. And I was in mourning, I guess, at transitioning out of what I thought was going to be my dream job (and so wasn’t). In our four months coaching together, I launched my first two e-courses and had nearly completed a second e-book. Bonkers. What was your biggest takeaway from our work together? The number one thing I got from Michelle was the confidence and clarity I needed to take my place as the leader of my business. And that it’s okay â€" even awesome â€" to change course when you need to. Allowing myself and my business to evolve (and to keep an attitude of curiosity) â€" those are takeaways that I’ll carry with me forever. Was there anything else you tried to do as a career between the time we stopped our sessions and what you do for work now? If so, how did it inform your current career? I’m now proudly trucking along in my business since working with Michelle. I’m just continuing along the path we created together when I was working with her. What would you tell someone now that was in your shoes when we first started working together?  Whats your best tip to allow them to make a grown-up living doing what they love? If you’re anything like me â€" a multi-passionate person â€" your business or career will probably evolve and shift over time. Stay open and curious. Follow your gut, and stand in your truth. You’re already the expert in your own self. Change is scary, but so great. Whats on the horizon for your  business? I’m really looking forward to running my program, Sacred Focus, again this spring. Of everything I do in my business, this might be the thing that’s closest to my heart, and I’m excited to be opening the doors to that course in early May. It’s changed form a bit from the first time I ran it, and I’m over the moon at how it’s evolving. Sacred Focus started out as my own personal journey to de-overwhelm my life and make self-care even more integrated than it had been. Now, I get to share what I’ve learned with the world. It’s the best. Wanna  coach with me one-on-one like Christy? Theres still 1 spot left for a May start  until Im booked through July! Check out the details and fill out a no-obligation application here.
