The results? Well, UK professionals seem to prefer the best of British, with a dollop of American of course. Consumer technology and retail brands dominated the list of the 20 most in-demand employers, as measured by the activity of members on the professional network. Google retained its top spot for a second year, while Apple and John Lewis entered the top five, and Amazon joined the top 20 for the first time. More than half of the companies in the top 10 are headquartered in the UK. Emerging UK trends: Supermarket sweep: of âtraditionalâ retailers, Tesco fell out of the top 20 while MS and John Lewis jumped up the rankings; Amazon joined the top 20 this year and ASOS.com jumped six places Ratings wars: ITV jumped seven places while the BBC dropped down five In the red: Goldman Sachs became the only financial services company to remain in top 20, with Barclays dropping out from last yearâs ranking Constructive feedback: while consumer tech and retail brands dominated, construction services firm Carillion and natural resources and engineering consultancy firm Amec joined the top 20 One too many: the sole drinks brand in the 2012 rankings, Diageo, fell out of the top 20 in 2013 David Cohen, senior director of LinkedIn Talent Solutions, EMEA, commented on the rankings, âEmployer branding has taken centre stage in the war for talent. Firms with strong employment brands are enjoying tremendous competitive advantages, among them driving down cost per hire and reducing employee turnover. Pros Cons of Unlimited Vacation Time for Employees
Pros Cons of Unlimited Vacation Time for Employees Two weeks of paid vacation a year? How about unlimited vacation time? These days, the latter question isnt as audacious as it sounds. Companies around the world including Virgin Group, Netflix, Groupon, Glassdoor, HubSpot many others offer their employees unlimited vacation time. If this vacation policy goes as expected, Virgin Groups Richard Branson plans to recommend it to his companys subsidiaries as well as companies all around the world. While this policy has its supporters, others inquire how effective it will end up being in the long run. Each company will have to weigh the pros cons of implementing this policy company-wide: Pros: Avoid the year-end scramble: Many companies require their employees to take their vacation time within a twelve month period. If employees are trying to save their vacation time for unexpected events, they could end up having leftover days at the end of the year. This can lead to the employee regretting they didnt take the vacation time during an earlier time of the year. In order for these employees to not feel like they wasted their vacation days, an unlimited vacation time policy can allow the employee to take time off when they feel like it so they can then feel truly satisfied with the days they took off. Loyalty is encouraged: A happy employee is a loyal employee. Loyalty in turn lowers turnover rates. While unlimited vacation time is not the sole factor to employee loyalty, it can be a positive contribution towards it. Hire the best: It is difficult to hire the best of the best when a limited vacation policy turns away applicants. Instead of picking an applicant based on who will accept an unflattering vacation package, a company will be in high demand if they have unlimited vacation time as a perk. With the influx of many applicants, the employer can now do extensive background checks to pick the best of the best. Morale is improved: Employees can get very concerned about leaving work early for personal business or pleasure. Taking out the concern they will be disciplined on their return (or using up a valuable vacation day), an employee will not feel guilty about taking the time off nor will they feel the need to make up an excuse for their absence (for example: I had a doctors appointment.) Better team dynamic: In the past, an employee felt compelled to cover for their co-workers when they were absent. Implementing unlimited vacation can encourage co-workers to collaborate better since they know their fellow team member will cover for them when they need to take time off. It may not feel like an obligation for co-workers to cover for each other but more like a collective effort. Cons Choice overload: Just like a person can be overwhelmed by choosing which vacation destination to go to, they can just as easily be overloaded with choosing which vacation days to take. Too many choices can lead to no choice at all; a quandary that could frustrate and immobilize an employee. Comparison gauging: If an employee does not know the normal amount of vacation time to take, they can feel guilty if they take more time off than their peers. If they avoid that guilt by taking even less time off than their peers, those peers in turn can take off even less time as well. Down the road, this can lead to dissatisfied employees with poor work ethics. Adding flame to the fire, these employees may be too afraid to speak up to their supervisor about this concern in fear of losing favor with him/her. Reverse coercion: It can be argued employees will choose not to take much time off because they were offered unlimited vacation time. In any company, an employer keeps track of a workers performance behavior. He/She gives the opportunity for workers to outperform their colleagues to get rewarded in return. If an employee reasons he/she will be rewarded for not taking time off, all the employees may constantly try to one-up each other until they convince themselves they will be rewarded for not taking any time off at all. If co-workers are trying to out-do each other on a very extreme scale, this can lead to a stressful environment that ultimately turns bitter workers away from the company. What will be the determining factor of unlimited vacation times effectiveness? The answer is time. The companies that decide to test this new concept on their employees will have to see if there are any adverse (and unforeseen) consequences with its application during a specified time frame. If there are fewer negative issues than their current vacation policy, n the company may decide to permanently implement unlimited vacation time for all of its employees. However, due to each company being unique and consisting of a wide variety of personalities, each company will have different results when testing unlimited vacation time on its employees. Therefore, the effectiveness of this vacation policy will not be universal for all companies around the world but by a case-by-case basis for each individual company. 5 Steps to Manifest Your Breakthrough - Classy Career Girl
5 Steps to Manifest Your Breakthrough Whether you are feeling stuck or just needing a change in life, letâs manifest your breakthrough so you can start living your best life now! Here are 5 steps to manifest your breakthrough: 1.Identify Your Calling We have many callings throughout life. Even throughout the day, we may be called to direct a lost tourist to the nearest convenience store, broker an introduction among friends, or bring laughter to a lonely neighbor. In life, we may be called to be an inspirational music teacher, a restaurant owner providing healthier options to the neighborhood, or a senator implementing policy changes to better society. When it comes to our life calling, itâs important to identify our purpose in order to live to our fullest potential. When we align our values, passions, and interests with our skill sets, we are at our best. And such happiness is priceless! In order to identify your calling, first make a list of your interests. What do you enjoy doing on your free time? On a scale from 1-10, rate these interests with 10 being the most meaningful activity to you. Is there a common theme? If you have a lot of 8, 9, and 10âs around exercising, you value health. If there are a lot of social activities high on your list, you value connection with others. 2.Mastermind with 5 Key Questions Write down your answers to the following key questions so you can allow your intuition to flow. Doing so on a daily basis will allow you to gain clarity in a week or less because you begin to hear yourself think clearly. That inner voice gets louder and louder when we are in the flow. 1. What are you biggest frustrations in life? 2. Are there things you are tolerating in your life that if you didnât have to tolerate would create opportunities? 3. What fears do you have about taking a leap towards your personal professional goals? 4. If you made slight shifts in your life so you can align your time with your values, passions, and interests, how would you feel? 5. What would your ideal day look like? 3.Make Slight ShiftsConsistently For the ideal results of a major breakthrough to last for the long term, itâs important to make slight shifts in your routine. This not only moves you in the right direction, but also transitions you into a higher frequency more smoothly. Here are just a few tips. Your time is precious and in order to manifest your breakthrough, you need to implement the most effective strategies out there! Surround yourself with the people who have already done what you need to get through in order to reach your goal. Sometimes you may need to hire someone to provide the right tools. In your current inner circle, are there individuals youâll need to set boundaries with? Or is it simply of letting them know your goals so that they can support you and keep you motivated with the going gets rough? Before taking action, we must understand that in order for a breakthrough to happen, we donât need to be making improvements in every aspect of our lives. Thatâs quite difficult, if not impossible. Hereâs a short video on how youâll start to see change happening just by being a work in progress. 4. Maintain the Momentum Major breakthroughs take time so having patience is so important for staying on track. Our inner debating committee can hold us back from reaching our goals. The self-doubt and negative thoughts get in the way when we donât have all the right information. In ambiguous situations, itâs easier to fill that space with doubts than to go forth into the unknown with full confidence. Let got of the self-doubts and maintain your momentum by taking inspired action. Continuous learning is key! Grow your library of inspiration with podcasts and reading material that will keep you in the flow with continuous learning. RELATED: Affirmations to Repeat Daily For Job Searchers and Entrepreneurs] 5.Thrive Change is constant so we need to roll with it in order to thrive! 75% of your manifesting efforts should be about the vision and inspiration. 25% should be taking the necessary action. So spend more time being as positive as you can be through having the attitude of gratitude. Be as consistent as possible with having a positive attitude, meditating, and journaling. Visualize yourself already having achieved your breakthrough and imagine how it would feel when you are living your ideal day. One last tip, if you are running on low energy, itâs hard to make progress. Listen to your body. If itâs telling you to take a break, do so to allow the Universe to send you inspiration and insight. Itâs not just about taking action but about balancing the envisioning with taking inspired action. How are you going to manifest your breakthrough?

No ones got ideas like an ENTP. Heres how to use them.
No ones got ideas like an ENTP. Heres how to use them. This course includes four days of video sessions and email-based course materials. You can purchase this course for anytime, on-demand access. The cost is $195. Sign up now! Whenever I feel like I am a social aberrant because of how many corners I cut, I think about my ENTP friend Cassie. What do you call it if you are cutting more than the corners? Slicing and dicing? Thats what Cassie does. Cassie is the only person Ive ever met who has more ideas than I do. Cassies attention span is like, fifteen seconds, so her ideas flow faster than mine. Basically, Cassie stays with an idea long enough for everyone to tell her its brilliant, and then she moves on. Cassie and I take little vacations, with Melissa. We do weekends away. Qustion: What do an INTJ (Melissa) an ENTJ (me) and an ENTP (Cassie) do in a swanky hotel room far away from home? Answer: We work. But its so fun to work in the same hotel room because we all like doing each others work. Heres how it goes. Cassie never stops spewing ideas. About anything. Shell do ideas about anything. But sometimes we need a break. This is a picture of Cassie panicking when we tell her she has to stop telling us her ideas. We say, hold on. We have to sort through all your ideas to figure out what we can use. Cassie says okay fine, and she gets on the phone to tell someone else her ideas. Once I mentioned, in passing, that Melissa, Cassie and I have been fired from every job weve had. Cassie said, That is so not true! I have never been fired! I said, What do you mean? I fired you. It doesnt count, Cassie said, because you hired me again as a contractor. So then you could say Cassie has never been fired. Because no one can resist her. Because, for example, Cassie can do anything in under an hour. But youd never know it, because, as Cassie says, she does value-add billing. Which means she bills for more time than she works. All the time. Whatever. Melissa and I hire Cassie so much because shes so fast and so smart. I tell you all this to tell you that Cassie is a totally standard issue ENTP. This is what theyre all like. Smart. Savvy. Unemotional, except if they are getting excited about their ideas. I am so happy to do a course for ENTPs because I think they will all be like Cassie well, or like the only coaching client Ive ever had a crush on. He was an ENTP. He was so funny. And he was applying for a job to take over the world, and I thought he would be my perfect match. Except that ENTJs and ENTPs are the only serious rule breakers of all sixteen personality types. So its for sure that if I were married to an ENTP wed both find ourselves in prison. Actually maybe you could think of this course as a public service because its going to be a million ways for ENTPs to make money without breaking the law. Day one: Understand how everyone sees you. You are great at seeing what other people need, what they want, what they are saying vs. what they are doing. But its harder to tell how people see you. You are complicated, so different people can see different parts of you clearly. And some people dont understand you at all. This session will help you know what people are thinking about you before you even talk. (As if there even is a moment before you talk!) Day two: How to rise to the top into corporate life. You need to re-create the company to accommodate you. You are not easily managed, you do not play well with others. But you do manage up very well, so well talk about how to make sure everyone above you loves you thatll get you the power you need to get your ideas implemented. Well also talk about what to do in the meantime, if you are surrounded by office drones. Day three: How to work for yourself. Outsource. Really. You need a lot of people to help you because your ability to do the grunt work is very low. Like, non-existent. But you are so good at connecting with people about ideas that you should be able to generate business with your creative intellect and you can delegate the work to people who will like doing it a lot more than you. This session will show you the myriad of ways to work for yourself, no matter what else is going on in your life at the time. For an ENTP there is always the possibility of more income. Day four: Ask me anything! Every question you have about your ideas, your dreams, your co-workers. Even your in-laws. This is the night to ask. Remember, the cost is $195. Sign up now!

How to create a social responsibility program that helps retain millennial employees
How to create a social responsibility program that helps retain millennial employees Itâs clear that millennials will have a huge impact on tomorrowâs businesses. This generation represents $2.45 trillion in spending power, reports Adweek, and according to Omnicom Groupâs Cone Communications, 70 percent of them will spend more on brands that support causes they care about. Millennials want to take part in changing the world and they expect the companies they work for to do the same. Corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs in which companies donate time, talent and treasure, are a checkbox for most millennials. Savvy organizations realize that the right CSR programs help the community and support key business goals. For many companies, attracting and retaining staff â" including millennials â" is a critical business goal. To keep millennials, a strong CSR program can be your secret weapon. Here are three tips to make your program a success. 1. Make it easy to get involved right away Millennials want to engage in making a difference from the start. They expect simplicity and fast results. This on-demand mentality shapes everything organizations do, including how they approach CSR. I spoke with Burt Cummings, CEO of Versaic, a software provider for corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs. He has seen the trend for on-demand programs emerge in corporate philanthropy, too. Burtâs company works with well-known brands, such as Quicken Loans, where millennials make up more than 50 percent of staff. Headquartered in Detroit, Quicken makes it easy for employees to get involved in the cities they serve from the get-go. The company provides employees with opportunities to use their time and talent to make a positive difference in their communities through individual, team and company-wide activities. 2. Measure the impact Millennial employees want to hear about how their companyâs programs are changing the world. In your own CSR program, can you quantify the impact your contributions are making? Do you know how many lives are improved and exactly how your company is making a difference? Answering these questions makes it possible for you to manage and communicate your philanthropic impact. Online tools provide more ways than ever to track the impact of your CSR programs. Quicken tracks all the details of its giving programs so executives can gauge their impact not only on the community, but against key business goals. According to Cummings, impact reporting facilitates that âaha momentâ and helps corporations get beyond raw numbers to understand and communicate their true philanthropic footprint, something thatâs especially important to millennials. 3. Focus on authenticity To engage, millennials assess the authenticity of their CSR program. Brands that win millennials are authentic in their mission, listen to employees and engage in the causes they care about. Lee Caraher is author of Millennials Management: The Essential Guide to Making It Work at Work and an expert on this generation. She recognizes the importance of having a CSR program that supports millennial employees in their own philanthropic interests. This is often done through volunteer time, matching funds, or access to the companyâs facilities. The most engaging programs organize team and company action days and events. For millennials, these programs are incredibly important to job satisfaction. JetBlue is a company that gets it right when it comes to engaging employees and building loyalty. The company has a mission to âinspire humanity â" both in the air and on the ground.â Community Connection, a JetBlue volunteer program, is designed to align corporate giving with the individual passions of JetBlue crew members. For every 25 hours of service logged, crew members earn the opportunity to donate a return flight to a charity of their choice. The program fosters deeper engagement with all employees because they have a direct impact on company giving. According to Harry Spencer, vice president of compensation, benefits, and corporate social responsibility at JetBlue, âSince weâve aligned the objectives of our corporate social responsibility platform and our people department, weâve seen a tremendous surge of involvement and enthusiasm from our crew members.â Millennials are expected to make up 50 percent of the workforce by 2020. By building a genuine CSR program designed with your employee interests in mind and tied to your business goals, it will be easier to recruit top talent â" and youâll be more successful earning their loyalty once theyâre on board.
